  • A great, early indicator of spring, the Eastern Redbud is one of the first trees to bloom in early April.

  • The Redbud is also known as the Judas tree due to the biblical significance of a related species from the Old World (C. siliquastrum).
  • Bark of redbud has been used as an astringent in the treatment of dysentery.
  • Recipes have used the flowers in salads or as a fried snack.
